Invictus is the latin word for unconquerable. Invictus HQ is one of two Headquarters of the Invictus Leo Jiu Jitsu Collective (www.invictusleo.com), a world wide organization dedicated to training Law Enforcement the benefits of Jiu Jitsu. We are located in Victoria BC Canada. The other is in Austin Texas (Renzo Gracie Austin).
We teach the art of Brazilian (Gracie) Jiu Jitsu and a modern Police Defensive Tactics base on Goshin Jiu Jitsu and C4C PJJ system. It includes joint manipulations, throws, takedowns, weapon based entanglements, self defense, grappling and tactics.
We are not a sport school.
Invictus HQ North is a traditional dojo, or training place. It can accommodate small groups. It is located in Victoria BC Canada, and is the Northern HQ of the Invictus Law Enforcement Jiu Jitsu Collective. We are PRIVATE dojo and membership is either invite only or through application.
Our head instructor, Ari Knazan, has been teaching Jiu Jitsu for 20 years and started training in 1984. He is an active police officer within Victoria and has severed as a patrol member, Field Training Officer (FTO), Use of Force Instructor and is currently assigned to the Domestic Violence Division.
While we do have some civilians that train with us, our primary goal and focus is to teach Law Enforcement Jiu Jitsu. We currently have a waiting list to join (12 month wait).
We believe that through the study of Jiu Jitsu, you will be able to develop a better sense of yourself. We are a private dojo meaning that attendance and membership are on an invite only basis.
We teach Goshin Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Gracie (Brazilian) Jiu Jitsu exclusively and rank in both of those arts. We focus on:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: TEAM RHINO
Ari is a 2nd Degree black belt under Professor Keith Owen (4th Degree Black Belt) and Master Pedro Sauer (8th Degree black belt) in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
Code 4 Concepts: C4C PJJ
Ari is a Level 5 C4C PJJ certified adjunct instructor for Chad Lyman's C4C PJJ program. The program is the gold standard for police training and covers hands on control, weapons platforms and use of force scenarios.
Japanese Jiu Jitsu: CJJU
We are affiliated with the CJJU and are under the direction of Soke Steve Hiscoe (9th Degree Black Belt) for Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Ari has been training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu for over 30 years and is a 5th Degree Black Belt under Soke Hiscoe.
